Frequently Asked Questions
- Q. I love your design but I need a different color or size.
A. Not a problem. I can customize many of my designs. I will
give you a colored image of how your glass art will look along with glass
samples. That way you know exactly what you're getting.
- Q. Do you do custom designs and if so how do we go about it?
A. Yes, I have many satisfied clients. Meeting at an art show
or making an appointment for a time I'm in your area is always good. Otherwise
pictures of the area where the design is intended along with color samples,
materials, and paint chips works well. You will receive a colored image of
your design along with glass samples for your approval.
- Q. How are the edges finished?
A. All the edges are covered in glass not grout. This is a
LOT of extra work but you will see it's well worth it. When the sun strikes
the glass, colors will reflect into your room in an ever-changing pattern.
It's quite beautiful.
- Q. Do I need to seal the grout?
A. That depends where you are going to hang your glass art,
how you're going to use it and what color the grout is. If you are hanging it
in a busy bathroom , yes sealing is recommended. If hung in a powder room it's
not necessary. Grout is sealed to protect it from moisture and discoloration.
Most of the time I use black grout so discoloration is not an issue. If you
are using your glass art as a trivet you might want to seal it to protect it
from moisture. You'll probably be cleaning it a lot.
- Q. How do I clean my piece?
A. The best way to clean your glass art is to dust it with a
soft cloth. If more of a cleaning is necessary, use a glass cleaner sprayed
onto a soft cloth, wipe the glass art clean with the cloth. Trivets can be
cleaned with a damp sponge and soft towel. Never submerge your art glass in
water, the substrate is a made from a wooden base.
- Q. Can I really use the wall tile as a trivet?
A. Yes, just treat it like fine china. If it's not cool to
the touch you can put a warm pot from the stove or oven on it, up to 375
degrees. (If it's cool and you put a hot pot on it, it will crack.) I keep
mine on the kitchen counter or hung on the wall as decoration that way
they're within hands reach when I need a trivet.
- Q. What if I crack or chip my trivet?
A. Cracks and chips are like wrinkles. They add character and
they usually don't hurt.
