Lightweight Stained Glass Mosaics

Make a beautiful, lightweight hanging mosaic using stained glass on an EPS (expanded polystyrene) base.  Instructor, Jackie Russo, is the pioneer in this process which is revolutionizing mosaics. This hands-on workshop will take you through all facets of creating lightweight mosaics. You will learn:

·        Glass cutting and breaking techniques-experiment with different glass cutters and breakers.

·        How to create various shapes using your wheeled nippers.

·        Cut out a pattern using Mosaic Pattern Cutters.

·        How to shape EPS,

·        How to prepare EPS,

·        What adhesives to use.

·        How to attach the hanger.

·        How to grout.

Each student will be given a 9”x 9”x 1”thick piece of EPS with which to create a mosaic.  Student may create their own design or use one supplied by instructor.   Both direct and indirect methods will be taught.  A grouting demo will be given; students will be supplied grout and grout at home. . Both novices to stained glass and those wanting to improve their glass cutting skills will benefit from this class. All glass cutting tools will be supplied for the students use in class. If you have wheeled nippers or glass cutters, please bring them. A basic selection of glasses will be available for students use.  Students may bring their own glass if desired.  Class size is limited for this fun and informative workshop so register early. Stained Glass Mosaic Box

Create a unique hand made gift for Holiday giving.  You will make a beautiful stained glass mosaic on the lid of a finished wooden box; perfect for you or your loved ones keepsakes.  No experience necessary to make a box that will be treasured.  Create your own design or use one supplied by instructor. You are welcome to bring any special objects you would like to incorporate into your mosaic design.  A grouting demo will be given; students will grout at home.  Designs should be 5”x 5”, box approx. 6”x 6” x 2”.  If you have Wheeled Mosaic Cutters bring them to class. Learn to create beautiful glass pendants using mosaic techniques. During this fun and easy class each student will create three beautiful pendants that glisten like jewels encased in a silver frame; perfect for holiday gift giving.  A grouting demo will be given; students will grout pendants at home.  If you have Wheeled Mosaic Cutters bring them to class.  Instructor will supply some to use or you may purchase them from instructor at a discounted price of $26.  Material fee $12.

Mosaic Mirror

Create a stunning stained glass mosaic mirror for yourself or a gift.  Finished framed mirror is 10” x 10”.  No experience necessary for this fun class.  Students may bring any special items they wish to incorporate in their design.  All materials and tools will be supplied. Please state you preference of primary colors to use when registering.  A grouting demo will be given; students will grout mirrors at home.  If you have Wheeled Mosaic Cutters bring them to class.  Instructor will supply some to use or you may purchase them from instructor at a discounted price of $26.  Material fee $12
